Much of Swansea City's success this season has been due in parts to the solid form which has been displayed by the team's defence, with the Swans having only conceded 18 goals this term.

However the club have been rocked in recent months by a key injury to Joe Rodon, which saw the impressive young defender sidelined for a three month period, whilst fans will also be concerned following Mike van der Hoorn having to be taken off with a suspected ankle injury against Huddersfield earlier this week.

The news that van der Hoorn could be out of tonight's game against Fulham is likely to worry many a supporter, with the former Ajax man having been in superb form for the south Wales outfit this term, making 18 appearances.

The potential absence of the Dutchman leaves the Swans short of options at centre back, with only young duo Ben Wilmot and Ben Cabango likely to be available for Cooper to call upon in tonight's game.

Supporters will be aware of the potential that both Wilmot and Cabango posses, however the young pair could have their work cut out at the Liberty Stadium if they are to face off against in-form Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Fans will be hoping that van der Hoorn won't be sidelined for a lengthy period, with then Swans looking to solidify their place amongst the play-off pack as we head towards the midway stage of the season.

The Swans could well be forced to dip into the January transfer market in search of defensive reinforcements if van der Hoorn is indeed sidelined for a lengthy period, with Cooper surely recognising the fact that his resources are going to be significantly stretched over the coming months.

Meanwhile Swansea fans will no doubt have their fingers crossed over the fitness of the experienced Dutchman as the club embarks on a run of games which see's them take on Fulham and league leaders West Brom.
