Swansea City could make a late move for Doncaster's John Marquis as they look to add bring in a striker before the deadline.

The striker is the joint top-scorer in League One this season with 16 goals to his name from 28 games and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

It had been reported that Sunderland had an offer turned down by the Yorkshire side for the 26-year-old yesterday and Sun reporter Phil Cadden has revealed that Swansea are now interested.

Graham Potter could be set for a very tough deadline day, with Daniel James, Leroy Fer and Jefferson Montero all likely to leave today.

As well as that, forward Wilfried Bony is expected to join Qatari side Al Arabi.

That will leave the Swans very short up top, with a real reliance on top scorer Oli McBurnie and very little depth behind him.

Therefore, a move for Marquis could materialise, although Rovers boss Grant McCann has today reiterated that the League One side have no plans to sell their key man at this crucial period of the season.

The Verdict

It's turning into a potentially disastrous day for Swansea and they need new faces in.

Marquis would be a smart addition and he would provide them with another option up top which they desperately need.

However, Doncaster are going to be extremely reluctant to sell on the final day, whilst Sunderland could also make a late move so you have to say it's looking unlikely a deal will get done.
