Swansea City are hopeful of keeping hold of striker Oliver McBurnie, with the club reportedly slapping a £20m price tag on the forward.

According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the Swans have indeed received a bid from Sheffield United for their star asset, but they are believed to be wanting £20m for McBurnie, a fee the Blades have yet to go too in their pursuit of the striker.

The 23-year-old breached the 20 goal barrier last season for the Swans in what was a generally disappointing season for Graham Potter's charges.

However, McBurnie did his reputation no harm in what was a superb season on a personal level for the former Barnsley loanee, and it is of little surprise to see such interest in his signature this summer.

Swansea will be hoping the big price tag puts the likes of Sheffield United off, but the Blades are indeed armed with Premier League money now, and might well break the bank to capture a player who Chris Wilder clearly holds in high regard.

It's set to be an interesting summer all around at the Liberty, with Nixon also claiming the club are seeking big money for defender Van Der Hoorn, while they are also keen on selling the likes of Borja Baston and the Ayew brothers.

The Verdict

You can see why Swansea want to get such a massive fee for their star player, but I'm not sure I can see Sheffield United paying all that money in one go.

A deal could be worked out, and there's little doubt McBurnie can succeed in the Premier League, but Swansea are obviously desperate to keep him.

This is dragging on somewhat though now, and the longer it goes on without going away, the more worried I would be as as Swansea City fan.
