Swansea have confirmed the signing of 17-year-old Rio Campbell, who was a free agent following his departure from Watford.

The youngster has played for a number of top clubs already in his early age having been at Charlton, Tottenham and Chelsea.

He's signing for the Swans on a two-and-a-half-year contract and is hoping to continue his development having been a key part of a young Watford side that made it to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals.

During his time at Chelsea in the 2017-2018 season, he made just one appearance for the under-18 side. It came against Arsenal, and he managed to score during the fixture.

Campbell is certainly one for the future and Swansea is a club that now has a reputation of blooding through youth, especially under manager Steve Cooper who has worked with younger sides previously during his time with England.

The Verdict

It's a great moment for the teenager, and one that he'll remember for a long time. At Swansea, he has the perfect support and people around him to flourish.

There's a big emphasis on youth at the Swans, so he has to remember that if he plays well for the younger sides then he will be given a chance in the first-team.

Cooper is someone that any young player would want to work under/with and this is seemingly becoming a thing that players look for, especially after Rhian Brewster joined.

It will be interesting to see how his future pans out, but at Swansea if you show signs of development, you will be given a chance.
