Swansea City remain firmly in the hunt for promotion from the Championship this season, with the Welsh side sitting six points adrift of the top six during the EFL's fixture suspension.

Steve Cooper's side had looked like strong contenders for automatic promotion at the end of August following an electric start to the season, but their form has been much more inconsistent since then with a play-off place now being the best Swansea can hope for.

This would still represent an excellent achievement for the Liberty Stadium side given their dependence on youth this term, while the young academy graduates and loan stars have been helped along by a core group of experienced players.

The majority of these older figures played for Swansea in the Premier League and have been important in adding experience, but they are also some of the biggest earners at the club after signing their most recent contracts while Swansea were a top-flight club.

Here, we take a look at Swansea's five top earners according to Capology...

Celina is the only player on the list who signed for Swansea while they were a Championship side, with the Kosovo international signing from Manchester City soon after the Welsh side's relegation in 2018.

The attacking midfielder is reportedly earning £18,ooo per week at the Liberty, which would make him Swansea's fifth-highest earner.

Dyer might be considered the surprise name on the list given he has not been a regular figure under Cooper, but the winger is earning an estimated £22,000 per week on his current deal in SA1.

The winger has made at least one appearance in the last 12 seasons for Swansea, even though he spent one campaign on loan at Leicester during their Premier League-winning season in 2015/16.

Naughton signed for Swansea back in January 2015 before signing fresh terms with the Welsh club in 2017, with the full-back having been a reliable performer throughout his five-year stint in south Wales.

The 31-year-old is earning £26,000 per week at the club, with his current deal set to expire this coming summer.

Routledge took a cut in wages when he signed a new deal with Swansea last summer, but he still ranks as the club's second-highest earner with a £27,000-per-week salary.

The winger has made some key contributions for the Swans this term, but he has only managed 17 outings in total.

It will come as no surprise to learn that Ayew is comfortably Swansea's highest earner with an enormous £80,000-per-week salary after joining the club for a second time in January 2018.

The attacker couldn't help keep the club in the Premier League after being initially being brought in to help boost their survival bid, but he has been the Swans' key man this term after scoring 14 goals in 36 appearances.
