Swansea City goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has said he is enjoying "every minute" of his loan spell in South Wales, having joined from Newcastle United last summer.

Woodman has started all 36 of the Swans' league matches this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process for Steve Cooper's side.

Many supporters have been impressed with his displays this season, with some fans calling for the club to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

However, Woodman said he is just enjoying his football and is not looking ahead at this point in the season.

He said, as per the BBC:

"I have got 10 games left here at Swansea and I am going to enjoy every minute of it," Woodman said after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

"I have done that for the last 36 games. I have enjoyed playing for this team and this club so I don't look any further ahead."

"We are going to give it everything. We will try to pick up as many points as we can and get in that top six."

Swansea are currently four points adrift of the playoffs with just 10 matches to play, sitting ninth in the table.

Next up, they face top of the table West Bromwich Albion at the Liberty Stadium, before a trip to the North East to face a struggling Middlesbrough side.

The verdict

With both Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow ahead of him in the Newcastle pecking order, Woodman would likely be hard-pressed to earn a starting spot if he returns to St James' Park in the summer.

Aged 22, Woodman is still young for a goalkeeper but will probably want to continue playing first-team football and in that sense, Swansea would offer a good option.

If they can earn promotion to the Premier League, the England youth international should look to extend his stay, while he would be advised to be on the lookout for other top-flight clubs in search of a new stopper.
