Swansea City have confirmed that Cameron Congreve has signed a new initial three-year deal to remain at the club.

The talented 18-year-old was involved in the first-team last season but there had been doubts about his future this summer as he was entering the final two years of his contract and it had been claimed Rangers were monitoring the attacking midfielder.

However, Congreve won't be on the move, as the Welsh side announced this afternoon that the teenager had signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025, whilst they have an option to extend that by 12 months.

The player only signed his first professional in March, but he has been rewarded with his impressive form in training with a new and improved deal.

The hope for Congreve, who is a supporter of the Swans, will be to push on and feature more frequently for Russell Martin's side this season as he looks to build a squad that is capable of pushing for the play-offs this season.

The verdict

This is great news for all at Swansea as Congreve is an exciting talent who has the potential to be a key player at the club in the years to come.

So, to secure his future makes sense and it also shows that the player is buying into the project that Martin is building with Swansea.

Now, with this sorted, it's down to Congreve to continue to impress in training and he will hope to be given a few opportunities in the early part of the campaign for Swansea.
