Swansea City forward Andre Ayew is closing in on a temporary exit, according to reports from abroad.

Ghana Soccer Net reports that Ayew is close to securing a one-year loan switch to Turkish side Besiktas.

Ayew joined Swansea in 2015 after leaving Marseille - where he had spent his entire professional career.

In his one season at The Liberty Stadium, he netted 12 goals in 34 appearances before moving to West Ham United for a then-club record fee of £20m.

He struggled to make more of an impact in East London, scoring nine league goals in 43 outings and a further three strikes in cup competitions.

Last January, the 75-cap Ghana international returned to Swansea but failed to score in 12 games as his side were relegated to the Championship.

The 28-year-old is now leaving the South Wales outfit on a temporary deal and he will team up with Turkish heavyweights Besiktas for their Super Lig and Europea League campaigns.

Ayew is a versatile forward who can play as a central striker, number 10 or as a winger.

The report does not know whether Besiktas will have an option to buy Ayew.

The Verdict

It was unlikely that Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan were going to stay at Swansea for their Championship campaign.

Both players were always going to attract suitors from the continent and be tempted by those offers.

A loan deal is not too bad because if Swansea go up, they can bring Ayew back if they feel he is needed and he has a good year at Besiktas.
