Swansea City have recalled winger Modou Barrow from Blackburn Rovers, the club’s official website has announced.

Barrow has returned to Swansea City

The midfielder joined Rovers on a three-month loan and made five appearances during his time at the Championship outfit, but has been recalled by Swans boss Garry Monk following the departure of Nathan Dyer to Leicester City on a season-long loan deal.

Barrow, who won his second cap for his country on Sunday, has been at the Welsh side for over a year, but has failed to make an impact on the first-team and only played 13 times last season, before joining Nottingham Forest on loan for the final few months of the campaign.

The 22-year-old will seemingly act as cover to the first-team following Dyer’s departure and will be used sparingly from the bench.

Barrow will have to contend with the likes of Andre Ayew, Jefferson Montero, Wayne Routledge and Marvin Emnes for a place in the starting XI.
