Swansea City are in the process of preparing a bid for Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Scotland international has been impressing north of the border and with Bartley primed to make a switch to the Hawthorns, Graham Potter believes he is the man to fill the hole left behind.

The 21-year old was targeted by Nigel Adkins in the summer, but rather than prise him away it merely resulted in a new deal at Pittodrie, securing him until 2023.

It's said Graham Potter will now have the Kirriemuir-born defender watched during Aberdeen’s Europa League qualifying match against Burnley and could make a £2m bid thereafter.

McKenna came through the youth academy at Aberdeen, enjoying loan spells with Ayr United and Alloa before breaking into the Dons first team. He made 22 top flight appearances for Derek McInnes side last season, resulting in his international debut on March 23rd against Costa Rica.

The Verdict

He's young, full of promise and would seemingly make a great investment. Whether he is experienced enough to step from Aberdeen to the Championship is another question entirely, but he developed at an astounding rate last season having previously only played three times in the Scottish Premier League.

£2m sounds like a big fee for a 21-year old with such little match time under his belt though, so Graham Potter must rate him highly.
