Swansea City are ready to add 20-year old Emmanuel Banda to their squad, according to the Lusaka Times.

Graham Potter is looking to assemble a side capable of returning to the top flight and reports suggest he's looking at KV Oostende’s midfielder to help lead the charge.

Banda only joined the Belgian side in July, but has impressed in his 16 outings, scoring three and turning in two assists.

He's a box to box midfielder, known for his work in front of the back four just as much as behind the forwards.

Banda has been capped by his country, appearing most recently in a March defeat against South Africa.

He had previously starred for them in the U20 World Cup of 2017.

He's also appeared in the Europa League for Oostende, playing twice as they slipped out of the competition to Marseille in the preliminary rounds.

The left-footed player is billed in the report as 'custom made' for the English game.

The Verdict

We've seen in the past how African holding midfielders have thrived in the English game, none more so than Claude Makelele.

Emmanuel Banda is very much in that mould and looks set for a bright future.

He could be one of the surprise stars of next season if he seals this move, much to Swansea's joy.
