Swansea City's Nathanael Ogbeta looks likely to be sold on this summer, with Wales Online confirming that Russell Martin's side do want to sell on the player.

Even though the player has only recently signed for the Swans, it looks like the club don't see a place for him in the squad. In fact, since his transfer, the defender has only managed two appearances in Wales for the side.

Instead, the player has had to make do with sitting on the sidelines or out of the squad entirely. Even though he impressed for Shrewsbury, since the move to the Championship, he just hasn't been able to prove himself and get into the club's first-team.

With the Shrews, he managed 51 league games with five goal contributions. He looked a solid player in League One for the team and Swansea boss Russell Martin liked what he saw and signed him up.

Instead of the player being able to get some more gametime though, he has never been able to get onto the field and rather than allow him playing time in rotation he has had to watch on from the sidelines.

Now, Wales Online is reporting that he will be allowed to leave this summer and won't be playing his football with Swansea this season. Whether the player is showed the door permanently or on loan is unclear currently but it doesn't appear as though he will be with the Welsh outfit for the 2022/23 campaign.

Now then, the player will be looking for a new club during this transfer window.

The Verdict

As a player, Nathanel Ogbeta can be very solid in the EFL and he's certainly proven so in League One too.

However, with Swansea, he just can't get on the field so a move to a new club looks a good move. He has the potential to be a very solid option and more gametime could make him an even better player. The issue is that he isn't getting that with the Swans so even a transfer on loan would be good for the defender this summer window.

Even with Swansea needing rotational options, it doesn't look as though Russell Martin considers him as one now. If he goes out on loan and plays some good football, then he could return to Wales and be a good option for them too going forward next season.

However, if the Swans decide to cash-in, then a League One club or even a Championship side could get themselves a shrewd signing in Nathanael Ogbeta this transfer window.
