Swansea City looked set to be heading into the Sky Bet Championship earlier this season, but with Paul Clement’s appointment as manager, came an upturn in results.

Clement’s side are still fighting relegation in the Premier League, but the Swans now have a chance of survival.

Whatever division Swansea find themselves in next year they should look to retain the service of Kyle Bartley, who has spent the season on-loan in the Championship with Leeds United.

Bartley has been a colossus for Garry Monk’s side this season, as they went within touching distance of qualifying for the end of season Play-Offs.

The 25-year old has made 49 appearances at Elland Road, which could become 50 if he features in Leeds’ final game of the season on Sunday.

Bartley has also scored an impressive six goals from central defence, along with striking up an excellent partnership with Pontus Jansson.

Swansea have the worst defence in the Premier League this season, having conceded 69 goals in just 36 games, with central-defence a real area of concern for Clement.

While Leeds could look to bring Bartley back to Elland Road next season, Swansea may want to keep the 25-year old at the Liberty Stadium, with a year still remaining on his current contract with the club.

Should Swansea find themselves back in the Championship next season, Bartley could be the man to strengthen a nervy defence and lead the club back to the Premier League.

Bartley could also play a part if Swansea remain in the top-flight, with Clement surely looking to assess all options ahead of his first full season in Wales.
