Swansea City winger, Jefferson Montero has been linked with a move to Mexican side, Deportivo Toluca according to Record (via a report from Superlider).

The 29-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan with West Brom, as they narrowly missed out on winning promotion back into the Premier League.

But he struggled to make a notable impact at the Hawthorns, scoring just once for the Baggies.

He wasn't favoured by former West Brom boss, Jimmy Shan who limited him to just one league start in a loan spell that was certainly one to forget.

Montero was given a chance by Swansea early into the season and was impressive for Graham Potter's side, but injuries restricted his game time.

It's unlikely that we'll see many departures in the near future at Swansea, with James Cooper recently being appointed as their new manager ahead of next season.

Cooper will want to assess his squad and make decisions on players' futures at the club before next season gets underway in August.

Montero has one year left on his contract with Swansea, and it seems as though his long-term future could lie elsewhere away from the Championship club.

The Verdict:

I still think he has a future with the Swans.

With Daniel James leaving the club for Manchester United, they need a player who is going to run at defenders and cause them problems.

Montero can be the answer to that and I think he has unfinished business with Swansea heading into next season.
