Burnley are continuing to monitor Swansea City’s Sam Clucas, who is a long-term target of Sean Dyche.

According to a report in the Lancashire Telegraph, Clucas is on Burnley’s radar once again this summer, although any deal to take the midfielder from Swansea to Turf Moor isn’t close.

Last summer, Burnley were rivalling Swansea for Clucas’ signature, with the Swans eventually winning that race and agreeing a four-year deal in Wales.

However, with Swansea now preparing for life in the Championship, Burnley are monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

Last season for the Swans, Clucas featured on 36 occasions across all competitions, with the 27-year-old returning three goals and three assists following his move from Hull City.

Despite his efforts, he couldn’t prevent Swansea suffering relegation from Premier League, with he and his teammates now preparing themselves for life back in the second-tier under Graham Potter.

Whilst Swansea look to plan their route back to the Premier League, Dyche and Burnley are embarking on a Europa League campaign during the 2018/19 campaign, having defied the odds to qualify for Europe last season.

The Verdict

Clucas is a player that Dyche has had his eye on for some time and he could be a good addition for Burnley.

Of course, he was part of Swansea’s relegated squad last season, but that doesn’t deny that the 27-year-old is a talent.

Amongst better players, in a settled squad, he could really thrive.
