One player who has really stepped up his game in recent weeks for Swansea City is Watford loanee Ben Wilmot, with the young defender having forged a solid partnership with Dutchman Mike van der Hoorn at the heart of the Swans' backline.

The 20-year-old has come on leaps and bounds of late after what was a slow start to his career at the Liberty Stadium, with the centre back having now made eight Championship appearances for the south Wales outfit so far this term.

Whilst the youngster has also shown his scoring touch by netting vital goals against Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

However, despite his strong showings of late, Wilmot will surely be wary of the potential return of Joe Rodon, with the Wales international recently taking to his Instagram page to seemingly confirm rumours that he may soon make a long-awaited return to first-team action.

The 22-year-old defender has been sidelined through injury since the back end of October and will be keen to make up for lost time once he makes his return, potentially putting Wilmot's starting place in jeopardy.

Rodon, of course, formed a brilliant partnership with van der Hoorn prior to his injury, meaning that Wilmot will surely be keen to continue his fine form if he is to hold onto his spot in the back four of Steve Cooper's starting eleven.

With games coming thick and fast over the winter period, Cooper will be keen to have as many players fit and available to him as possible as the Swans seek to address their recent poor run of form that has seen them pick up just one win in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Wilmot's attentions will be firmly focused on this weekend's game as the south Wales side travel to league leaders West Brom for the lunchtime kick-off on Sunday.
