New Swansea City signing Joel Asoro has revealed in an interview with SportBladet that he turned down a move to the Premier League with Spurs this summer.
The comments, via a report from HITC, make interesting reading for Spurs, who Asoro revealed could not make him any promises on his minutes on the pitch during talks with the club over the summer.
Asoro has since gone on to sign for Swansea City, and has been a regular so far under new manager Graham Potter, and Asoro seemed pretty decisive in his summer decision making in his comments.
The young striker burst onto the scene last season alongside fellow young forward Josh Maja at Sunderland, but the pair could not prevent the Black Cats being relegated from the Championship, and while Maja has stayed put, Asoro made the move to Wales to try and fire the Swans into the Premier League.
The Swedish under-21 star will be hoping for some success this season, and despite seeing Spurs make an excellent start to the season, first team football will no doubt benefit Asoro more than playing third or fourth fiddle to Harry Kane.
Swansea have made a good start to the Championship season in the main and will be confident of being in and around the playoff mix come May, with Asoro set to be a key man in their promotion hunt.
Swans, what do you think? Has Asoro made a good start? Let us know in the comments!
