With Swansea City flying high in the Championship, fans of the south Wales club will no doubt be dreaming of the prospect of returning to the Premier League for the first time since being relegated to the second division in May 2018, with the Swans currently sitting second in the league table.

The Swans head into tomorrow's game against Charlton Athletic away off the back of a largely frustrating 1-1 draw against Reading last Saturday at the Liberty Stadium, with the Welsh club having gone ahead early in the contest through top scorer Borja Baston before conceding a late goal in the 90th minute in the form of Andy Yiadom's clinical finish for the Royals.

With Charlton having also enjoyed a solid start to their Championship season, tomorrow's game is sure to be a cracker, however some Swansea fans could be forgiven for having their minds elsewhere with the club's official Twitter account today announcing that tickets for the highly anticipated South Wales derby against Cardiff City have sold out:

It is a contest that both Swansea and Cardiff fans will be relishing, with the two sides having last faced off against each other back in February 2014, with the Swans running out 3-0 winners at the Liberty Stadium against their fierce rivals thanks to goals from Wayne Routledge, Wilfried Bony and Nathan Dyer.

The Verdict

Swansea fans will no doubt be delighted that they have now sold out their ticket allocation for the visit of their greatest rivals, with some fans no doubt being left disappointed with the tickets having sold out 26 days in advance of the actual game.

The players and management staff will no doubt be feeling confident ahead of the grudge match, with Cardiff having only won on three occasions this season, the odds look stacked against the Bluebirds, particularly with the game taking place at the Liberty Stadium, a venue in which they have only tasted victory on one occasion, which came back in February 2011 thanks to a solitary strike from Craig Bellamy.

However, with this game being a local Derby, anything could happen with more than just three points being on the line come the 27th October.
