Swansea City's on-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is being targeted by Trabzonspor as a potential replacement for Badou Ndiaye, a report from Turkish outlet Asist Analiz has claimed.

Ndiaye joined Trabzonspor on loan from Stoke City back in the January transfer window, with the midfielder so far making 13 appearances in all competitions to help Trabzonspor to top spot in the Turkish top-flight.

According to the latest reports however, Ndiaye is unlikely to return to the club next season, with Trabzonspor's search to fill that role leading them to Gallagher.

It is thought that the Turkish league leaders are targeting a loan move for Gallagher in the summer transfer window, with talks over such a deal already said to have begun.

Gallagher, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, spent the first half of this season on-loan at Charlton, where he scored six goals in 26 games, before moving to Swansea in January, where he has since made a further ten appearances this season, helping the Wales-based club to 11th in the current Championship table.

As things stand, Gallagher's contract at Chelsea is set to expire in the summer of 2022, meaning he would return to Stamford Bridge with 12 months remaining on that deal if he was to spend next season in Turkey with Trabzonspor.

Ndiaye meanwhile 13 league appearances for Stoke during the first half of this season, and has just over two years remaining on his contract with the Potters, securing his future at the Bet365 Stadium until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Verdict

This may not be a bad move for Gallagher.

The midfielder has already shown this season that he is more than capable of competing at Championship level, and the obvious next step is to prove he is capable of doing it at top-flight level as well.

This move is one that would allow him to do that, while also giving him the opportunity to get an early experience of playing abroad, which could then be useful for him later on in his career.

It will also be interesting to see just what this update means for Ndiaye, who has never really settled at Stoke during his time at the club, with this update throwing more doubt on his chances of an extended move elsewhere.
