Swansea City legend Angel Rangel has sent a heartfelt message to his former club on the anniversary of his final ever appearance in South Wales.

Sharing the post on his personal Instagram account, Rangel recounted his 11 seasons with the Swans and thanked everybody involved for his time at the club.

Writing alongside a series of photographs of himself in the white kit, the Spaniard said:

"A year ago today! You never think that day will ever come but when it does it’s just great, sad and emotional! Clubs change, players come and go but the fans and the memories are the ones that stay forever! 11 seasons of great memories on and off the pitch! Thank you!"

Signed from Terassa FC in 2007, Rangel went on to make nearly 400 appearances over his 11 season stint at the Liberty Stadium, and was present for their rise through the Football League and into the Premier League.

He left last summer after his contract expired, eventually joining Queens Park Rangers on free transfer where he made 20 appearances.

The verdict

Rangel epitomises all that is needed if you want to become a legend at your club.

He would have done anything for Swansea. He gave his all in every single game and there is a reason he is so highly thought of.

Given how well he did for QPR as well it could be easily argued that they let him go a bit too early as well.
