Swansea City say they have not yet received any approaches for winger Barrie McKay, according to Wales Online.

The Daily Record (3/7, 8:38am) linked the Scotsman with a move to QPR earlier this week, but the Welsh club claim they have not been contacted about his availability.

A potential switch to the R's would see McKay link up with former boss Mark Warburton for the third time, after also working under him during stints at Nottingham Forest and Scottish side Rangers.

McKay experienced an indifferent debut season in South Wales after arriving from Forest last summer, as he made 31 appearances but failed to cement his place in the starting line-up.

But it should be noted the 24-year-old did show glimpses of his quality, and he was involved in a total of 10 goals over the course of the season.

It remains to be seen whether new Swansea boss Steve Cooper sees McKay as part of his first-team plans after he took over from Graham Potter earlier this summer.

The Verdict

I think McKay joining QPR could be a good move, as he has achieved success under Warburton previously.

McKay has occasionally proven his capabilities at Swansea, but it may be the case that he needs Warburton's tutelage to really find a consistent run of form.

Warburton has already brought three of his former Rangers men to West London in Dom Ball, Liam Kelly and Lee Wallace. This suggests he is very much open to the idea of relying on former players.

I think Cooper will take his time to assess his squad options before making final decisions on players. If he decides McKay is not part of his plans, QPR seems like a sensible destination.
