Swansea City have entered talks with Brentford over a possible deal for Ryan Woods, with it understood that the Bees have already rejected an offer from their Sky Bet Championship rivals.

According to Sky Sports, Swansea are in talks with Brentford over Woods, with the London club not willing to sell the talented midfielder for anything less than his value this summer.

The Swans see Woods as an ideal replacement for Leon Britton, who called time on his playing career at the end of last season.

Woods, 24, has been one of the Championship’s standout players in recent seasons, impressing at Griffin Park following his arrival back in 2015.

Over the course of his spell with the Bees, Woods has made 127 appearances across all competitions, with the bulk of those coming in the Championship.

Last season, the midfielder made 39 Championship appearances for Brentford, helping Dean Smith’s side to ninth and into play-off contention once again.

So far this summer Brentford have lost John Egan, who has linked up with Sheffield United, along with Florian Jozefzoon, who has joined Frank Lampard’s revolution at Derby County.

The Verdict

Woods is one of the Championship’s standout midfielders, who over the last three years has really come on at Brentford.

If Swansea can match Brentford’s valuation and get Woods on board then it will represent great business for Graham Potter’s side.

However, you have to feel that if Brentford become open to selling, more Championship clubs will enter the race.
