Ex-Swansea City defender Chico Flores has suggested he wants to return to the club before his playing career comes to an end.

Flores first joined Swansea from Genoa in the summer of 2012, and went onto make 75 appearances in all competitions for the Wales-based club during a two-year spell at the Liberty Stadium, scoring four goals and helping the Swans win the League Cup during the 2012/13 season.

The Spaniard established himself as a popular figure amongst the Swansea faithful during his time in Wales, and when one of those supporters took to Twitter on Sunday to ask Flores would ever consider returning to the club to watch one of their games in the future, the defender responded by suggesting he may yet go one better.

Replying to the question, Flores tweeted: "I'm not coming back to watch a game. I will come back to play again with Swansea !!!"

Currently, Flores is playing for Madrid-based club CF Fuenlabrada, who as things stand, sit 13th in the Spanish second-tier following their promotion the last season.

Flores joined the Fuenlabrada last summer following his departure from Rubin Kazan, but only signed a one-year deal with the Spanish outfit, meaning he could be able on a free transfer come the end of the campaign.

The Verdict

What a story this would be.

Flores was impressive during his previous spell with Swansea, and there is little doubt he would be welcomed back with open arms were he to make a return to the Liberty Stadium.

However, at 33-years-old, it is worth noting that Flores is much further along in his career now than he was the last time he was at the club, meaning this may need to be approached carefully if it does happen, since he may not be able to make the same impact for the club, and it is unlikely anyone will want to his reputation around the club needlessly affected.
