Russell Martin is completely committed to the project he has started with Swansea City, as reported by Stuart James of The Athletic on Twitter.

The 35-year-old had been listed as an early favourite to take the role at Ibrox with Steven Gerrard looking set to depart for Aston Villa.

Martin only arrived at the Swansea.com Stadium in the summer and is starting to see success after a difficult start to the campaign.

Has Ashley Williams ever played club football abroad?

The Swans currently sit in 12th place, but given the competitive nature of the Championship early on this season, they are a mere three points from the play-off positions.

Martin’s possession-based style of football and philosophy is starting to gain lots of admirers, with his side winning four out of their last six games.

The verdict

Martin appears to be in the infancy of his Swansea career and could go on to enjoy excellent success with eh club.

The former MK Dons manager may have secured a mid-table finish with League One outfit last year, but his approach to football, coupled with the progress the club made throughout the year, made a move to the Championship justified.

Swansea have gained a reputation of playing attractive and progressive football, and that is exactly what Martin offers.

In recent weeks, The Swans have looked excellent and it will be no surprise to see them in and around the play-off mix as the campaign progresses.

From a Rangers perspective, it is clear to see why they would be interested in Martin, but a move that does not make too much sense at this point in time.
