Swansea City are set to test Brentford’s resolve with a bid for forward Jota, FLW sources understand.
The Bees’ star performer from last season has been the subject of a large amount of interest this summer with several Premier League clubs interested, however FLW understands that Swansea City manager Garry Monk has earmarked the Spaniard as a potential new acquisition.
The 24-year-old forward made 42 appearances for the London-based club last season and scored 11 goals as the Bees reached the Championship play-offs.
It is thought that Swansea City boss Garry Monk has courted the player for a while and had him watched on several occasions last season.
Jota arrived at Griffin Park just last summer from Celta, where he had three unsuccessful seasons, starting just four games and going out on loan twice to Real Madrid B and Eibar.
It was his form at Eibar which persuaded ex-Brentford boss Mark Warburton to bring the player to Griffin Park and he didn’t disappoint.
The Swans are set to table a former offer for the player this move with a move seeming highly likely at this stage.
