Swansea City are set to announce Ostersunds FK manager Graham Potter as their new head coach next week.

According to the Independent, the Swans are expected to appoint the 43-year-old as the replacement to Carlos Carvalhal on Monday or Tuesday next week.

Managing in the Allsvenskan, Potter has led his side to an eighth place finish, as well as a Europa League run, eventually losing at the hands of Arsenal in the knockout stages.

The Swans were relegated from the Premier League, despite the best efforts to survive from former manager Carlos Carvalhal.

Ostersunds FK is the only team that Potter has managed, but has experience player in all levels across English football, notably for the likes of West Bromich Albion, Stoke City and York City.

Swansea City will need to pay some form of compensation to secure their managerial target, but the deal is still likely to go through early next week.

The Verdict

While Graham Potter doesn’t have the managerial experience on the shores of the UK like many fans are after, his European experience might be enough to convince the Swansea faithful.

Despite the best effort from Carlos Carvalhal, the Swans will be playing their football in the Championship next season, hoping that Potter will be able to guide them back to the Premier League.

With the announcement due early next week, the Swansea fans now will turn their attention to possible players that could be transferred to the Liberty Stadium this summer.
