Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero could miss up to six weeks of action after suffering a thigh injury in training this week.

The Ecuador international was yet to establish himself as a regular under Graham Potter, but he was making an impact from the bench.

Montero was superb as a substitute in the 2-1 win against Millwall last time out, making both goals as the Welsh side came from behind at the New Den with just ten men.

As well as that, he was a standout figure from the bench in the opening day victory at Sheffield United, when the side again came from a goal behind to win 2-1.

Therefore, the news that the 29-year-old will miss four to six weeks, as revealed by the BBC, will be a major blow to Potter ahead of a hectic period.

The Swans are in action against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, which will be the first of six games in a three week period.

Potter's men are currently seventh in the table.

The Verdict

This is a big setback for Swansea and you have to feel for Montero too.

He had to patient in his bid to get in the first-team but showed the right attitude and was fantastic from the bench in a few games already.

With his blistering pace and good dribbling ability, he is always a threat and he will be sorely missed over the next six weeks as he has qualities that are pretty unique in the Swansea team.
