Swansea City are close to completing a deal for Real Madrid striker Dani Gomez as Graham Potter looks to improve his attacking options, reports the Daily Mail.

The highly rated 20-year-old plays for Real Madrid's Castilla side in the third division and has been catching the eye with his performances.

Last season the Spaniard scored six goals and assisted three more in the league and scored an impressive seven in seven in the UEFA Youth League.

Potter has had to work with limited resources throughout the transfer window with only five new signings arriving in the summer and only one a striker.

This leaves the Swans with Oli McBurnie, new arrival Joel Asoro and an injured and out of sorts Wilfried Bony as striking options.

McBurnie has been in great form so far this season scoring three goals in the first five games and looks set to be their first choice for the remainder of the season.

But Potter is keen to bring in a striker to take some of the goalscoring pressure off the Scottish striker.

The verdict

For whatever reason, Swansea have not been willing to back their manager as heavily as the other relegated sides, and this could be them just being sensible.

But they need to listen to their manager when he says he needs a certain position improving and they need to back him on this one.

There is no guarantee that Gomez will be a success, but the bottom line is that McBurnie cannot score all of Swansea's goals this season.
