Swansea City's Freddie Woodman has named PSG's Kylian Mbappe as the best striker he's ever played against.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed his most prolific season to date, having featured in every single one of Swansea's league games this season. The Newcastle United man is on a season-long loan in South Wales and has so far been impressive.

He's developed a knack for saving penalties and has generally proved to be a good quality goalkeeper in the Championship, and many Swans fans would likely want him to stay beyond this season.

He took part in a club interview today, and was asked who is the best striker he's ever come up against:

"The best striker I've played against would have to be Kylian Mbappe. I played against him at Under-19 level for England against France and he was unbelievable - lightning quick and he actually scored that game as well."

Woodman has represented England at every level from U16 to U21. He won the U17 European Championship in 2014, and was part of the Steve Cooper side that won the U20 World Cup in 2017 - Swansea teammate Rhian Brewster was also in that team.

Woodman scooped the Golden Glove award that tournament, and also saved a penalty in the final against Venezuela. At 23, Woodman has already enjoyed a fine career on the international stage, and will have his sights set on his first senior cap.

The verdict

Very few expected Woodman to be as solid as he has been this season.

He'd endured some tough loan spells in Scotland and the Football League before his Swansea arrival, but he's since proven himself as one of the nation's best young keepers, and could one day be England's no.1.
