Swansea City player Andre Ayew has agreed to a season-long loan move to Turkish side Fenerbahce, according to Turkish website, Turkcell Bip Spor, as reported by African Football.

The 28-year old left West Ham for Swansea in January for a fee of £18m, but was unable to prevent his side slipping out of the top flight in May.

Since relegation he's been heavily linked with a move away from South Wales, along with brother Jordan.

It seems now that the Turkish side are ahead of the competition, with the report suggesting he will join on a one-year loan deal worth €1.5 million, earning himself €3.2 million in the process.

In joining Sarı Kanaryalar, or the Yellow Canaries, he will guarantee himself European football as they finished second in the Super Lig last season to Galatasaray. They now face a 3rd qualifying round match to earn a place in the group stages of the competition.

Ayew is the son of African footballing legend Abedi Pele who made 73 appearances for Ghana between 1982 and 1998. Ayew already has 75 caps for the same country.

The Verdict

If the move comes off there will surely be a loan fee for Swansea, plus it shifts a big earner on for at least a season. If they do bounce back then Ayew would be like a new signing next season, but if they don't he could accrue value on the bigger stage.

I'm sure they would have preferred to recoup the £20m they spent on him, but this seems like a decent compromise for both sides.
