Managerless Swansea City could be set to lose another one of their key players, with Bournemouth eyeing a move for defender Conor Roberts.

According to Alan Nixon, the 23-year-old is wanted by the Cherries as they look to continue to plunder the Championship for the best talent around.

Roberts has been a regular for the Swans in the last 12 months and has forged a reputation both at Championship and international level as a reliable defender who looks to have the capability of making the step up into the Premier League.

Roberts made 44 appearances for the Swans last season and knocked in an impressive five goals from his defensive position, leading to some admiring glances from onlooking scouts, with Bournemouth clearly one of those teams to be looking at the Welshman.

Bournemouth have made a habit in the last few seasons of picking up the best talent in the second tier, with the likes of David Brooks joining the club, while they have also moved to sign Bristol City youngster Lloyd Kelly this summer.

Roberts will be keen to test himself at Premier League level but with his international career to consider he may well seek assurances about first-team opportunities.

The Verdict

Roberts is certainly good enough for the Premier League but there has to be questions about whether he would play or not.

He won't want to see his career start to peeter out and he'll be looking for Eddie Howe to give him some assurances.

However, Bournemouth are a good club, and he could do far worse than move to the Vitality.
