Championship duo Aston Villa and Swansea City are tracking Kilmarnock's Jordan Jones ahead of a January move, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The winger's contract at Scottish outfit Kilmarnock expires at the end of this season, with Graham Potter's Swansea City expected to watch the 24-year old in action for Northern Ireland against Austria on Sunday evening.

Dean Smith's Aston Villa have also been watching the impressive wide-man in action, according to the same report.

Jones is highly regarded at Rugby Park - Killie reportedly rejected a £350,000 bid from Rangers last January, which obviously shows he is one to talk about.

The former Middlesbrough trainee has provided three assists in 11 Scottish Premiership appearances for Steve Clarke’s side so far this season, and has been of the standout performers in the league after helping guide Kilmarnock to 4th place in the table.

Swansea and Villa both have aspirations of finishing in the play-off places this term, and the addition of Jones would be a shrewd one to say the least.

The Verdict

Jones would be a quality signing for Swansea, they are need of another creative player to add the likes of Bersant Celina and Oli McBurnie. Do Villa really need him though? Defensive reinforcements should be the number one priority for Smith in January, and it'd be a needless signing in all honesty.
