West Brom have not approached Slavisa Jokanovic over replacing Darren Moore, with the ex-Fulham boss open to joining Albion.
That’s according to the Mirror, who say that reports the Serbian is asking for too much money are wide of the mark as he hasn’t been in touch with the Baggies.
They claim that the 50-year-old is willing to listen to an approach from West Brom if they are interested in him as he wants to work in England after successful spells with the Cottagers and Watford.
First-team coach James Shan has been placed in caretaker charge since Moore’s dismissal and he tasted victory last night, guiding Albion to a 3-0 win over Swansea at The Hawthorns.
That has left the West Midlands outfit in fourth place and they are nine points behind the top two, although they are also nine points above the chasing pack outside the play-offs too.
It’s believed that the Baggies board will wait until the international break before naming Moore’s successor, meaning Shan will take charge for Saturday’s trip to Brentford.
This is extremely surprising and Albion fans will be urging the club to make an approach for Jokanovic.
He seems like the ideal candidate as he encourages stylish football and most importantly he has won promotion twice before at this level.
So, what are the board waiting for? It’s strange that they haven’t approached Jokanovic but it’s promising that he is interested in the job and they have to try and get a deal done.
