The 2016/17 campaign will no doubt be one to forget for every Nottingham Forest fan as tension between them and the owner grows more by the week, with controversial chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi becoming increasingly unpopular for his lack of investment in the playing squad.

A relegation dog fight is highly on the cards but with the international break and a new manager in the shape of former Brentford man Mark Warburton, optimism is high around the City Ground that they can escape the drop.

Despite the lacklustre performances on the pitch throughout this year, there has been bright sparks and the odd display to be proud of.

Nottingham Forest supporters have had the luxury to see one or two members of the first-team improve upon the last campaign, and that could help in a positive way for the short-term future for the club.

Here are TWO Forest stars who have come out of nowhere and been revelations this season.....

Joe Worrall

The 20-year-old defender was unknown to many Nottingham Forest fans this time last year having currently been on loan at then League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge, with a future at the City Ground on the balance.

However, Joe Worrall has become a regular member of the first-team at the Championship club with his 14 appearances this term, most recently in their league draw at home to rivals Derby County.

The centre-back has definitely appeared out of nowhere in the 2016/17 season and his potential could take him higher.

Ben Osborn

Ben Osborn is one of the favourites on the south side of the River Trent and has almost replaced the emptiness left by skipper Henri Lansbury in January, who decided to sign for Aston Villa.

The box-to-box midfielder has prominently been a man in the middle, but also has been used in the width of the team on either side, which proves his versatility and importance to the Nottingham Forest squad.

Osborn was just another player last season but he has become a breath of fresh air at the City Ground, and boss Mark Warburton may very well find him particularly useful in the run-in.
