It's been another eventful season at Derby and once again it's ended in disappointment.

The Rams got off to a bad start, picking up just one win from their opening nine matches, a run that saw Nigel Pearson lose his job.

Steve McClaren then returned to the Derbyshire club, taking the Rams from the brink of relegation to a play-off challenge.

However after the turn of the year, Derby's form stuttered and they dropped right out of the play-off hunt in February when they failed to win any of their games in that month.

After a 3-0 loss away to high-flying Brighton earlier this month, Steve McClaren was sacked as manager just five months after being re-appointed - with Gary Rowett being given the reigns.

Rowett drew his first match in charge, 2-2, against bitter rivals Nottingham Forest.

There have been plenty of ups and downs at Derby this season, with many players having both good and bad patches of form.

Here's TWO player that have come out of nowhere and impressed this season for the Rams...

Max Lowe

Max Lowe has had a good season in a Derby shirt, making the step up from youth to first team level.

Lowe has made 12 appearances in all competitions, 9 of which have been in the Championship.

The youngster has been impressive in 2016/17, showing great potential with his ability to both attack and defend.

The 19 year old has some competition for his place at left back with both Marcus Olsson and Craig Forsyth being recognised left backs too.

With a new man in charge, Lowe will have to impress to regain his left back spot once he returns from injury.

Chris Baird

Chris Baird is not a young player, but has certainly come out of nowhere to impress this season.

Baird's first season at Derby, in 2015/16, didn't go to plan.

The Northern Irishman put in poor performances and was loaned out to former club Fulham in the final few months of the campaign.

But this season has been a different story.

Stepping in for the injured Cyrus Christie, Baird has been a great right back for the Rams this season by adding defensive stability to the back line.

Baird is now a preferred option by many Rams fans due to Christie's poor form, as well as the good season that the 35-year-old has had.
