Leeds United have not offered talented youngster Jack Clarke a new deal, which has prompted Premier League interest in the player.

That's according to Football Insider who also claim that the 18-year-old and his representatives have been pushing for a contract.

Clarke has featured five times for the Whites this season and has been hugely impressive at times.

And, he has clearly impressed boss Marcelo Bielsa, who is starting to trust the teenager more and more.

The winger has been subbed on at half-time in the previous two games and made a decisive contribution on Saturday, with his pass setting up Pablo Hernandez to score the only goal as Leeds beat Sheffield United.

Therefore, it's perhaps not a surprise to read that several high-profile clubs, including Manchester City, are believed to be monitoring Clarke.

Yet, the latest update suggests that the Championship side are not in any hurry to sort a new deal for the academy graduate.

The youngster penned his first professional deal in November 2017 and it runs until 2021.

The Verdict

This is very strange from Leeds and you can only imagine that they're trying to save money as Clarke still has a few years left to run on his deal.

However, he deserves to be rewarded for his form and is now a important member of the first-team squad.

This is a highly risky tactic from the club to such a talented youngster and they need to sort it quickly or that interest from top clubs could turn into offers.
