Reading could be braced for a few Madejski Stadium exits before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Football.London is reporting (liveblog January 31, 10:22am) that Leandro Bacuna and Yakou Meite are both set to leave the Championship club.

In a shocking turn of events at the relegation-threatened club, both look set to leave for pastures new in the coming hours.

Bacuna is reportedly close to agreeing on a move to Premier League Cardiff City, having completed a medical yesterday at the Welsh club.

Meite, meanwhile, is heading across the channel to complete a move back to France, with Amiens SC in Ligue 1 the most likely destination for the 28-year-old.

The pair have been frequent starters for the Royals this year.

Bacuna has started 23 of his 26 matches, scoring three times and registering the same number of assists.

Meite, meanwhile. is the club’s second top scorer and has made 21 appearances for Reading, starting 19 times.

The shocks continue at the Madejski in what is turning out to be quite a busy deadline day for the Berkshire outfit.

The verdict

The Jose Gomes revolution continues at the Championship club with two surprise departures.

Bacuna is heading to the Premier League in what is somewhat of a shock deal, while Meite is heading back to France.

Both have been big players for the Royals this term, and one can only imagine how short this leaves them with such short notice to bring in replacements.

I think this is Reading cull to limit any damages the club could have if they are relegated.
