It was revealed this morning that Nigel Clibbens, the Chief Executive of Huddersfield Town has left his role. mitre554545454 He had been overseeing the running of the Club on a day to day basis for the past seven years. The club will now begin to look for his replacement. Clibbens was an accountant by profession, plying his trade at PricewaterhouseCoopers before dedicating the next nine years of his career to specialise in the financial restructuring and reorganization of businesses. This gave him the experience and expertise to manage and run a football club from a financial perspective.
Nigel's involvement with Huddersfield Town began when he assisted Dean Hoyle, the now chairman of Huddersfield Town when Hoyle made his initial investment in the club. Clibbens and Hoyle had a close working relationship which is reflected in Dean Hoyle's statement: “I would like to place on record my thanks to Nigel for his dedicated work on behalf of the Club. He has made a massive contribution into transforming Huddersfield Town into the forward-thinking, progressive organisation it is today. “He played a big role in helping the club progress off the field, as well as on the pitch through promotion back to the second tier. He leaves with my best wishes for the future. “Change is something that you have to be prepared for in football and the Club will now begin its search for a new Chief Executive. At a time when David Wagner is overseeing a transformation of life on-the-pitch at Huddersfield Town, we’ll look to bring someone in to lead a new chapter off it." The comments reflect Hoyle's change in attitude this season. The risk-ridden decision to bring in David Wagner, a relatively unknown manager rather than choosing a manager with a well known track record has seemingly paid off. Clibbens provided a stable footing for Huddersfield as the club looked to consolidate themselves as a sustainable Championship side. Now that has been accomplished, the club are looking to move another level, both on and off the field and a new CEO may be the catalyst for this to happen.
