Even after Preston condemned Cardiff City to their first defeat of the season in midweek, fans of the Welsh club will still be delighted with the start they've made.

Neil Warnock's men sit 2^nd in the table and have a 100% home record that they'll look to protect when Sheffield Wednesday visit on Saturday.

Even though he only has one goal to his name this season, Kenneth Zohore has been a key reason to the Bluebirds early-season success.

The Danish striker plays a key role, causing defenders problems with his pace and power and has been a real focal point for Cardiff's attack.

Warnock deserves huge credit for the way he has transformed the forward and intimated he would leave if Zohore was sold in the summer as speculation mounted.

Brighton were said to be very keen on the striker and Wales Online has revealed the striker's agent told Danish media a £17m bid was rejected by the club.

“It would have been a record purchase for Brighton and a record sale for Cardiff,” agent Darryl Powell said.

“It would also have been a record for the sale of any Danish player.”

The Verdict

Keeping Kenneth Zohore was pivotal to any chance Cardiff have of returning to the Premier League, and the board deserve huge credit for rejecting such an enticing offer.

The importance of Zohore to this team is not lost on Warnock, who was desperate to keep his key man.
