Reports have recently surfaced that Sky Bet Championship side Aston Villa are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers defender Toni Leistner in the summer.

According to reports from Football Insider, Dean Smith's men will be rivalled by Premier League side Cardiff City in pursuit of the 28-year old, who has been a mainstay for Steve McClaren's men this season.

The German defender arrived at Loftus Road on a free transfer from Union Berlin in the summer, and was made club captain upon his arrival in West London. The report also claims that the two reported teams will have to pay around £5million to secure the services of the defender.

Villa have improved in defence since the loan signing of Tyrone Mings, but the West Midlands side will be back down to square one again if he becomes a permanent figure at AFC Bournemouth next season, so it is essential that Smith bolsters his back-line in the summer.

The Villans have conceded 53 goals in 35 league games this term, which is more than any other top half Championship side have conceded thus far.
