Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing former Newcastle United midfielder Medhi Abeid.

The 26-year old has featured 16 times for Ligue 1 side Dijon FCO this season, but is out of contract at the end of the season, with Marcelo Bielsa looking to pursue the three-time Algerian international.

The midfielder, who can also play out wide, endured a difficult time with the Magpies, making 13 appearances in the Premier League during a four-year stint at St. James' Park.

Here, we discuss whether Abeid is a good signing for Leeds United...

George Harbey

"Surely there are better options out there?

"Abeid has probably turned a corner since his departure from Newcastle, but he hasn't really played at a good level since he left England.

"I think Bielsa needs to be careful."

Louie Chandler

"A very sensible signing.

"Leeds seem to have constantly been linked with attacking players this month but it is a central midfielder like Abeid that they really need.

"The midfielders at the club have done well but have often had to play out of position so another body makes sense."

Gary Hutchinson

"Absolutely not, no.

"It doesn’t get my pulse racing at all. They’re hoping for promotion and I don’t see him as crucial player in that push.

"He’ll have the Whites fans reaching for Google though won’t he?

"Few will have heard of the Dijon midfielder."
