Nottingham Forest fans will be hoping for significantly better from their side when the new Championship season gets underway in August.
The Reds seriously struggled throughout the 2016/17 running, finishing just above the bottom three on goal difference after beating Ipswich Town 3-0 in their final game of the campaign.
And with Philippe Montanier beginning the season in charge, Gary Brazil taking over temporarily between January and March, and then Mark Warburton brought in on a two-and-a-half year deal, it was a season of instability and difficulty for the East Midlands giants.
Nonetheless, with former Brentford and Rangers chief Warburton having a full pre-season and summer transfer window to come, there will be optimism around the City Ground that they can pull clear of the Championship relegation zone next term, and potentially even challenge for a play-off place.
And one name they’ve been linked with in recent days is ex-Newcastle winger Sammy Ameobi, who will be leaving St James’ Park at the end of the month after seeing his contract expire.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, helping them gain promotion to the second tier, and has been recently linked with the Trotters and Forest, as well as Queens Park Rangers.
And news of a potential deal for Ameobi has stimulated quite the response from Forest fans on Twitter, with the overwhelming verdict that the club should steer well clear of the winger this summer…
Not sure we need Sammy Ameobi at #NFFC do we?
