Chelsea are reportedly battling it out with Arsenal to the signing of Brentford winger, Said Benrahma according to Le Buteur.

The French media outlet claims that the two Premier League heavyweights are monitoring the Algerian winger's performances this season.

They will have been impressed with what they have seen so far as well, with Benrahma having seven goals and 11 assists to his name in this year's league campaign.

He's certainly had no problem into adjusting to life in English football and will be keen to add to that tally for the Bees for the remainder of this year's campaign.

A bid from the Blues seems unlikely though, given that they were hit with a transfer embargo, which prevents them from making any signings until 2020.

There will be doubts that the Algerian could make the step up to the Premier League, and it won't be the last we hear of this transfer rumour.

But would Benrahma be a good enough signing for Chelsea?

We discuss....

Jay Taylor:

"Well they might want him but they can't sign anyone until the summer of 2020 after an embargo was enforced.

"It may be turned over on appeal or they may be given the summer ahead of a ban thereafter.

"So due to that, I can't see this move happening. "

Jacob Potter:

"It would be a waste of talent.

"Benrahama has the quality to be playing in the Premier League, but he wouldn't be good enough for a team like Chelsea.

"He's not an upgrade on any of the wingers they already have available to them and it would be a bizarre move if the Blues pursued a deal for him."

Gary Hutchinson:

"Surely not?

"He’s bagged a hat trick recently, but he’s not been that special all season.

"When he’s good, he’s good.

"The trouble is, he’s nowhere near consistent enough for Brentford, let alone Chelsea."
