Sunderland are a big fish in a small pond when it comes to League One, but as they approach the end of their second season in the third-tier, whether they will return to the Championship remains in serious doubt.

Jack Ross has failed to deliver a promotion, whilst Phil Parkinson doesn’t have everyone convinced he’s the man for the job.

Across the division today, Nigel Clough has stepped away from his role with Burton Albion, a position that he has held for five years.
