Ipswich Town midfielder Flynn Downes is one of Peterborough United’s top transfer targets, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

Downes came through the ranks at Portman Road and has since made 99 appearances for the Tractor Boys in all competitions.

The 22-year-old made 24 appearances in League One last season, and the club rejected a £1.6m bid from Crystal Palace for him last summer.

But a year on, interest remains in Downes. According to the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich have made the midfielder one of their top targets this summer.

Quiz: What was the score the last time Ipswich Town played each of these 25 teams?

Peterborough are preparing for life back in the Championship after winning promotion from League One last term, with Darren Ferguson eyeing up a move for Downes.

Downes is out of contract at the end of next season, but Ipswich hold a one-year extension option and technically aren’t under pressure to sell him.

But with Peterborough now one division away from the Premier League, Championship football could be attractive for the player.
