With the future of Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri up in the air following a disappointing performance v Man United that led to an FA Cup exit, reports on Sky Sports suggest that Chelsea are looking at Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard as potential replacements.

Should Lampard be offered the post at Stamford Bridge and he took it, what would be next for Derby County?

Should Derby look to promote assistant manager Jody Morris to the Pride Park hot-seat if Lampard did depart?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"I think so.

"Lack of continuation has been a problem at Derby from year to year so giving the job to Morris would be smart.

"I would be surprised if he did not go to Chelsea with Lampard, however."

Jacob Potter

"Surely he has to be considered?

"Morris could be the perfect man to replace Lampard if he was to depart, and he will be keen to establish himself in football management.

"It would be the obvious choice, and the smart option for Derby."

“On what grounds?

“I don’t understand why he’d be a choice.

“It’s not a decision I can see being made because Lampard has as much right to the Chelsea job as Phil Parkinson or Nigel Adkins.

“It’s a ludicrous link.”

Alfie Burns

“This is the route Derby should take.

“Morris’ attitude on the sidelines impresses me and I feel he has a bigger impact than Lampard in many ways.

“They work well as a pair, but surely Morris would fancy the gig if Lampard went.”

Jay Taylor

“He could well be considered, but if Lampard were to go – I would imagine Morris would go with him.

“Lampard picked Morris as his assistant at Derby; I doubt he would leave him behind as you need someone you trust and respect alongside him if he were to go to Chelsea.

“But the lure of first-team management might be too much for Morris to resist.

“For continuity’s sake, it would make sense.”
