Reading will be eager to push onwards and upwards next season under Jose Gomes after battling relegation.

Under Paul Clement the Royals slipped rapidly down to the foot of the table but, thanks to the arrival of the Portuguese, they quickly started to pick up some crucial wins, eventually finishing comfortably clear of danger.

But Gomes is clearly keen not to rest on his laurels this summer and has set about strengthening his side ahead of the new season.

Two new arrivals have come through the door at the Madejski, in the form of goalkeeper Joao Virginia and centre-back Michael Morrison, although a new target emerged on Monday.
