Sheffield Wednesday have got off to a solid start to the season and currently sit sixth in the Sky Bet Championship.

Wednesday have recovered fairly well after last season's play-off final heartbreak at the hands of Hull City and they will be aiming to go one better this year.

Carvalhal recruited well in the summer, adding some fire power up top with Steven Fletcher, creativity with Almen Abdi and some pace and guile out wide with the much sought after winger, Adam Reach.

Arguably Carvalhal's best business over the summer was keeping hold of his squad that had been so successful the year before.

Normally when a team does so well but fails to go up, they tend to lose their best players, but The Owls board stood firm.

Wednesday turned down approaches for Tom Lees from Premier League Burnley and any interest in Fernando Forestieri was quickly extinguished.

Carvalhal will be looking to add again in January and one area he should definitely reinforce is his striking options.

Here, I will look at four strikers Wednesday could sign in January...

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes has fallen out of favour at the Riverside since the summer arrival of Alvaro Negredo and he has found first team appearances extremely hard to come by this season, even from the bench.

Rhodes is a clinical goalscorer at Championship level and he could be the man who fires Sheffield Wednesday to the Premier League.

Rhodes wouldn't come cheap, but the prize he could get you at the end of the season could make him look a bargain.

Scott Hogan

Hogan has proved to be one of the Championship's in-form strikers so far this season, with 11 goals to his name already.

Hogan has earned a reputation of being one of the second tier's top strikers but with promotion at Brentford seemingly unlikely, he could look for a move away.

Given how clinical Hogan is in front of goal, this makes him an ideal player for Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls currently have a few options in the striking department but Hogan offers them something different: the ability to run in behind and stretch the opposition defence.

Will Grigg

will grigg

Grigg was League One's leading marksman last season with 24 goals, which fired Wigan Athletic back to the Championship.

Grigg has struggled for regular football this season due to injury and managerial uncertainty but he has still scored some important goals.

There is no doubting Grigg knows where the net is and if he is supplied with chances he will score goals.

In a very attack-minded Wednesday side, he wouldn't be short of chances and he could definitely become a prolific Championship striker.

Omar Bogle

Omar Boglefg

Bogle currently tops the League Two scoring charts, with 16 goals to his name already, which works out at an extremely impressive ratio of a goal every 98 minutes for the 23-year-old.

Bogle could complete a similar rise to fame as Jamie Vardy and Andre Gray, emerging through non-league football and continuing his goal scoring form in the Football League.

Bogle is clinical in front of goal and he near enough guarantees to score you goals.

Whether he can step up to the Championship remains to be seen, but he is certainly worth taking a chance on
