Birmingham currently occupy a Play-Off spot and they will be hoping to stay there and avoid a repeat of last season's dip in form, which saw them slide down the table.

The Blues have had a fine start to the season which has seen them establish themselves as one of the serious promotion contenders in the league, but Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Barnsley will come as cause for concern for Rowett.

A win over Barnsley would've seen Birmingham move up to third place, really establishing their place in the Play-Offs.

As it stands they are one of six teams separated by just three points, so they can't afford any slip ups in weeks to come.

Birmingham have a couple of striking options in Clayton Donaldson and Lukas Jutkieiwcz, but with Jutkiewicz's loan up in January, they need to look to get another striker in to aid their push for a return to the top flight.

Here, FLW's Chris Wilson will identify FOUR strikers who Birmingham could sign in January.....

Lukas Jutkiewicz

Currently on loan at St Andrews, Jutkiewicz's loan expires in January, but it is believed The Blues have the option to buy the Burnley striker, who has impressed so far for Birmingham, chipping in with five goals.

Jutkiewicz hadn't scored a competitive goal in two years for The Clarets but he has excelled at Birmingham, contributing greatly to the team.

His goal scoring prowess could be the difference between Birmingham going up or staying in the Championship this season.

David Nugent

With Middlesbrough boss, Aitor Karanka, looking to offload Nugent in January, Birmingham should look to swoop in and take him from under the nose of many Championship teams.

Nugent has a proven goal scoring record in the Championship and he could be the man to score some much needed goals for Birmingham.

It has often been said that Nugent only needs a sniff of goal and it's in the back of the opposition net, which is something that may be key for Birmingham as they go into a crunch part of the season.

Matty Taylor

Taylor

Taylor has showed in the last two years that is clinical in front of goal.

He topped the League Two scoring charts last season with 27 goals and he already has 12 goals to his name in League One this season.

Taylor would provide Birmingham with some added fire power up front, which could be so crucial in the promotion run in.

The Bristol Rovers front man has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and putting the ball in the net, something which not all strikers have, making him highly sought after.

Fraizer Campbell

Campbell has fell well down the pecking order at Crystal Palace of late, and the arrival of Christian Benteke in summer has pushed him even further down the line.

He made the bench on Saturday because of Connor Wickham's injury but come January, Pardew will no doubt be looking to strengthen his striking options, which could see Campbell leave.

Campbell has an impressive Championship strike rate, scoring 22 goals in 46 Championship appearances, showing he knows where the net is at that level.

He brings something different to Birmingham's other strikers, the ability to run in behind and stretch the defence.
