'Supporters are just going to have to trust Dean Smith' - Aston Villa man on borrowed time?

The Burnley Express has reported how Villa are favourites to sign out of favour Burnley keeper Tom Heaton, though they could face some competition for his signature.

So with Smith on the look-out for a goal-keeper will Orjan Nyland be in the Villa goal by Feb 2019?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

He’s actually improving, but it doesn’t look like it.

There’s so much speculation linking Villa with a new goalkeeper it just seems inevitable that Nyland will be axed.

Supporters are just going to have to trust Dean Smith.

Gary Hutchinson

Nope.

Can’t see him being in goal much past January 5th.

Villa will have something lined up and then Felix Wieldwald Mk II can be off on his way.

He was never up to the job.

George Harbey

I really can’t see it.

He’s looked very shaky this season and it’s no secret that Villa are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

I’d feel much more safer if I was a Villa fan with Tom Heaton in goal.

Jay Taylor

In a word – no.

If Aston Villa want to progress, they need a player in goal that will make fewer mistakes and more saves – and in Orjan Nyland, they have a man who, despite picking up his form in recent weeks, is prone to making costly errors.

I fully expect Dean Smith to sign a new goalkeeper in the new year and for him to establish himself as the club’s number one ahead of the business end of the season.
